ABOUT ME

My name is Kaitlyn Hettinger; most people know me by "Thu". I am an artist and scenic fabricator who has been traveling for the past 3 years.

My profession is in theatre, especially scenic and prop fabrication and art. Since the age of 13 years old, I have been very invested in scenic carpentry and have been lucky enough to follow it into a career. I have worked as a scenic designer and Master Carpenter on many live productions, events, and I hope to branch into the film world soon (maybe even making my own).

I am very involved in my community and passionate about social issues, having spent a year working at a local food-equity nonprofit while independently hosting and planning Laramie's first "Free Market" -- a community event where everything is free. We have since gone on to host three more and plan to continue. I have also helped to found and contribute to an independently published Zine, "The Deserted: A Zine for the Obscene" and helped to plan and coordinate the 2022 Wyoming Higher Ground Fair and the 2024 Laramie Farmer's Market!

In my spare time, I create various types of art. I love small and large scale fabrication, jewelry making, sewing, writing, and much of my work is in the form of paintings and drawings. My work has graced the walls of some local establishments, galleries, as well as been used for a few community murals. I work primarily with recycled materials.

I am always looking to continue my work in theatre and production; especially those new, exciting, bold, sometimes polarizing ideas that drew me to this field in the first place.
